Error:SMTP connect() failed. suiteCRM Version 7.8.1

Hi Everyone,

I’ve just downloaded and installed suitecrm today!

I’m having extreme difficulty in getting outbound emails to work in SuiteCRM, i’m getting “Error:SMTP connect() failed” whenever i send an email.

I have searched through the forums but cannot find a fix to this problem (although there are many threads on this but no real solutions?)

Can anyone help?

This appears when the credentials, email permissions etc are incorrect.

What mail server are you using e.g. gmail, exchange etc
Have you allowed the mail server to connect - allowing less secure apps(gmail) - Allowing the CRM to connect through the exchange server
