Email addresses in Convert View - bug

Is this a bug?

I installed fresh instance of Suitecrm 7.7.9, I added email address field in the Account panel of Lead Convert view and thereā€™s also an existing email address field in the Contact. The issue was it displays duplicate email addresses field and seems the system is confused because there were two email1 field name in the convert layout.

Tried this also on the 7.5 of Suitecrm and same issue on the email address. Attached is the image

Please advise.

Thanks,

If you just added the field to the view, you are using the same email field already present so itā€™s normal that the values are the same.
If you want to have two different email fields you have to create a brand new field from Studio (and not just use an existing field). Then you have to create another corresponding field in accounts (the field names have to be the same for the conversion)

What do you mean by this?

amariussi thanks for replying.

We wanted to add email field on Convert page in Account and Contact panel for the consistency of data from Lead -> conversion -> up to record that will be created.
If youā€™re suggesting to create brand new field that will be used in convertdefs and in accounts, can you advise how can I achieve the same widget it has in the Email address?

I am not sure I understand precisely what you are trying to achieve. Please be more specific.

What did you mean when you said that the ā€œsystem was confusedā€?

As a client request, they wanted to add email address fields to Convert View in ā€˜Accountsā€™ and ā€˜Contactsā€™ panel.
So what I did, I added ā€˜email1ā€™ field in the Accounts and Contacts. But it turns out there were unnecessary email address fields displaying. (Please see the attached image)
I just thought that maybe CRM is confused or wasnā€™t able to handle when I added email field for panel Accounts and Contacts Convert view.

Then I just cant create new field in Accounts and convertdef, as I need to map the field from the Lead record > conversion > up to the Accounts or Contacts record, because we need to use the same fields for the mapping and conversion.

From my understanding, when you convert a Lead you can choose if you want to convert it to a new Contact or merge it into an existing one. In either case you can also decide whether you want to assign it to an exixting Account or Create a new Account based on the Lead information as well as your input in the available fields.

With respect to Accounts, there are a few availabel fields for editing. Among these you will not find any email field, however the Leadā€™s email weill also be mapped to the new Account upon conversion.

You may decide to modify the Lead conversion view so as to display the email field (as you did), but be aware that you are talking of Leadā€™d email field (so itā€™s the same in Contacts and Accounts.

You may want to create a new email field but, in order to have that field added to an account upon conversion, you need to create also a new field in the Accounts Module with the same field name, otherwise the mapping wonā€™t take place for that field.

Beware that, by doing so, you will end up with two different email fields in the Accounts, and maybe thatā€™s not what you want.

Furthermore, I am not sure whether user created email fields are managed in the same way as standard email fields (among the things: you can assign multiple values to standard email fields): however, as I said, I am not sure of this part.

Ya. It shouldnā€™t be like thatā€¦ It should be something like the actual email address widget on the Convert view and at the same time mapped to the modules upon converted. Iā€™m still thinking of solution and how will I modify the convert layout, because trying it on Sugar 7, it was just easy.
Thank you btw.
