Delete Accounts Hanging

Hi, I am trying to delete 300 accounts from 20,000 I started getting rid of duplicates because of two earlier errors in inporting a large csv file, so imported around 8000 too many.so I searched for accounts, then went through alphabetically and ticked 60, deleted, then 100, 200, also deleted, 319 and it just says “Connecting” at the top of the Firefox tab, and “waiting for localhost” at the bottom of the screen.

Update: it just finished… too over 1 hour.

Question please: Could it just be the 4 gig DDRM ram on this windows 7 laptop? (i5)

ps Running a current version I think it is 7.3.1 (Cant remember how to find the build number of the software)

I looked for other reasons for “waiting for localhost” but it seemed a little bit beyond my capabilities… but read about Ram.

So for me, if it would make a lot of speed difference , I would go to 16 gb Ram if it would solve the waiting.

All easy to follow steps to speed up the “waiing for localhost” would be appreciated.
ps 2. Loving the software, and will contribute . .not sure how to contribute, but will find it eventually. have fun!

Also, would anyone know how to get back to a page, if I have searched and come up with 12000 records, and am working my way through the pages which show 20 per page, and then press"deleted selected " accounts, then the programme goes back to the start of that search .
I would love a page counter that appeared at the bottom of the page, so I could just select , for example, “page 72” , instead of clickinga page at a time till I get to the same point as before.

When I start on this country accounts
page 1-20 server time is 1.5 seconds
When I get to this page (541 - 560 of 5040) server time is 15 seconds +
When I delete say 50 records it takes a few minutes
But it then goes back to page 1-20, and I have to wait for page loads right through to back where i last worked, which is quite a while when I have to wait for local host to load each page.
I have suite crm locally hosted on my machine, and intent to have other staff using the database as well.

Just testing it all out…

Cheers,
Marty

So, I thought I would delete 4000 accounts that had no address, (Had already re imported them successfully with correctly mapped fields containing addresses)

Step 1. Went into admin system settings and changed display 20 per page, to 100 per page.

Step 2. Went to the last column on the right, and clicked the date created, to change the date order of the accounts created , to show the last date , (17th September, the last date records were imported) first.

Step 3. Clicked through page by page till I got to the 16th of September, which was the date I had imported the accounts without addresses.

Step 4. Then clicked “select all on this page - 100” and then moved to the next page, then the next, till I got to 4010.

Then at 5pm last night, clicked delete all.

Now its 8:00 am the next morning, laptop quite warm… still going… hoping it will be finished today, as its a Sunday, and I need it for work on Monday.

Any suggestions for a better , quicker solution are welcome.

(apart from this little tip) …It will be better next time I do an import, to make a small sample import in the csv file, say 5 lines, to make sure all the field mapping is spot on)

I must also next time, read carefully the de-duplicate message.

Perhaps this might help someone else.

Cheers to everyone on the forum,

PS. If it isnt finished by tomorrow morning, should I just log out? Is that bad to do, in the middle of such a large job?

So I finally saw, after 40. 5 hours, the suite crm tab appear and replace the “connecting” tab at the top of the firefox page. yay!

The page did not refresh at all, like normal, and go back to the start of the search.

But I clicked the home button anyway, and walked away from the comp for an hour while it huffed and puffed (quad core, 4 gigram, big fans)
when I got back, refreshed the page, and found…

:stuck_out_tongue: I had successfully deleted 4010 accounts, mostly ones with emptys paces (no country or city)

So then went back in, and thought I would try and de-duplicate a country. left the lines per page in admin as 100, selected 250 accounts and pressed delete, and 1 hour later they were deleted.

Rinse and repeat, and 6 hours later, one country is done. Whew!
