Database error: Could not connect to the database. Please refer to suitecrm.log for details.

Hi all,

I’ve been trying to install my copy of SuiteCRM for ages now and I keep getting this message: Database error: Could not connect to the database. Please refer to suitecrm.log for details.

I’ve done a fresh install and the installation freezes on creating the db.

Can anyone help?

Mant thanks

Hi Sugaray,

Have you tried logging into the database with the same credentials you are using in the SuiteCRM install wizard to ensure you are using the correct database credentials?

Kind Regards

Hi Lewis,

That was quick…

I’m not really sure what you mean… I’m currently on the db config page but I can’t see where i’m able to do that…

Sorry if I’m not being very helpful, I’m really new to all this…

Thanks for assisting me though Lewis

I’ve read that perhaps I should have set some permissions, which I have not done yet… Should I have done this already?

Thsnks

Hi Sugaray,

Ok, what is your server setup?

Are you sure your database credentials are correct? Can you log into your database using the credentials you have via command line or via phpmyadmin or another database administration tool.

Permissions shouldn’t effect your database connection its more likely to be your database login credentials that are the issue.

Kind Regards

Hi Lewis,

I’ve installed the CRM to a linux server which is hosted in the UK I guess. I’ve just downloaded the log file and have seen the following:

2016-05-19 17:14:11…installerHook: Could not find custom/install/install_hooks.php
2016-05-19 17:14:13…installerHook: Could not find custom/install/install_hooks.php
2016-05-19 17:20:05…installerHook: Could not find custom/install/install_hooks.php
2016-05-19 17:20:09…installerHook: Could not find custom/install/install_hooks.php

I will admit I have not idea if this is preventing the install.

I believe the SQL is working fine, as the first time in installed the CRM it simply froze on 2 of 2, I’m guessing hitting the refresh page after 30 mins didnt help but it really wasnt going to load…

Should I just delete the entire thing and start again?

Thanks for your help…

Could you tell me the contents of the suitecrm.log file?

To try a reinstall just delete the config.php file from the root folder of the crm and run the wizard like you did before.

Yep, just logged into the db and it’s working fine…

Just doing it now… looks like it will simply sit there… I’m now getting this message: Creating SuiteCRM application tables, audit tables and relationship metadata.

It shouldn’t take very long to create the database.

Possibly a memory issue on your server or a time out issue, do you know how to access the php error logs?

if the error logs are in the CRM uploads I can find them… I’ll take a look…

found the log  what should I be looking for?

Thanks

Great is that the PHP log?

If so you are looking for the word FATAL.

found 3 :

[Thu May 19 18:20:09 2016] [error] [client 82.20.203.10:39335] AH01215: PHP Fatal error: Uncaught exception ‘Exception’ with message 'Could not connect to the database. Please refer to suitecrm.log for details.

Ok. if you try go to the crm (index.php) and then look in the suitecrm.log what is in that log?

that log was from the server…

wow, in the suitecrm log there are lots of fatal errors

Can you show me them?
