Converting Opportunities to Projects?

Hello,

I would like to have an option to convert an Opportunity to a Project (much like converting a Lead to an Opportunity), but I can’t seem to see it anywhere in the interface. Is this an option I am just missing?

HI,

I’m new to SuiteCRM and have the same query.

It seems natural that once an Opportunity is achieved it should be converted to a Project to do the work yet this simple ability doesn’t seem possible. One just has to create a Project from scratch.

Am I missing something?

Yes, it seems odd that you cannot convert an opportunity to a project.
Our business process is…

Lead > Opportunity > Quote > Contract > Project

And when we reach the project stage, we need to see all the information captured in the previous stages. For example a contact is created at opportunity stage, an account is only created at contract stage etc, so these related records need to be carried forward.

So far, even converting a quote to a contract is problematic for us because a contract is created as soon as the button is pressed, regardless if the contract is actually saved or not. :frowning:

Dear Bungle,

We’ve produced a Workflow to do this but it is far from ideal. For example, something call “Cascade Opportunity” gets called “Cascade Opportunity” even though it’s now a Quote etc. It has to be edited manually.

This is a similar requirement for me. Would be convenient and efficient.
