Basic questions

We’re going to hire someone to help create the modules we need but in the meantime as I determine our workflow and needs I have some very basic questions. Note that I do not have a coding background. I’ve used CRMs but never set them up. Our company provides services not products.

  1. Can you remove existing fields in any of these: Contacts, Leads, Accounts?
  2. Can you edit the picklist for existing fields.
  3. How do you convert a lead to a contact or account?
  4. Is it possible to have different fields in Contacts versus Leads? We would be capturing/reporting more information once they become an actual sale.

I’m sure I’ll have more soon but that’s a good start.

In short, it is a yes to all of your questions. You can do 1,2 and 4 in Admin -> Studio and modify the module you need.

On point 3, You do this by clicking the ‘Convert Lead’ button when viewing the lead record.

I figured out #2 and 4. I already explored studio and noticed we can delete fields that we’ve added but I do not see an option to delete existing fields. Thoughts?

For number 3 I know there’s a status dropdown list and I’ve changed it to converted but I don’t see a button on the lead’s search page or inside a lead record. Where would I find that?

Hi Del,

You do not need to edit the lead. When you view the lead(detail view) there will be a button(or drop down list of options next to edit button) to convert the lead.
